- Q: How Do I use FTP?
-
1. You must have an FTP (file transfer protocol) client in order to efficiently upload and download files to and from Moment Share. An ftp client is simply a software program that utilizes the FTP protocol to send files across the Internet. If you are familiar with FTP, you probably already have an ftp client like WS_FTP, CuteFTP or Fetch(for Macintosh). If you do not have an ftp client, you can purchase one online at http://www.ipswitch.com/Products/WS_FTP/ (WS_FTP Pro is the number-one Windows-based FTP client software) or for Macs at http://fetchsoftworks.com/. If you do not have an FTP client and you do not want to pay for one, you can download SmartFTP, a very functional free FTP client at http://download.com.com/3000-2160-10136541.html?tag=lst-0-20.
2. Now, once you have the ftp client, open the client, and make a connection to ftp.momentshare.com. To do this, enter the host name as ftp.momentshare.com, and then enter your user name and password and click connect. (At this point you could save the entry, so that you would not have to type it in every time you connected).
3. Once connected you can transfer files from your computer Moment Share and vice versa with ease. Every client is different, but the basic idea is that you will see a window on one side with the files from your computer (much like windows explorer) and a window showing the files you have uploaded or that are currently residing at Moment Share (you may need to refresh the screen in order to see what you have just uploaded). It is not very complicated to get the hang of, and there are help files for most FTP clients that can answer most of your questions.
 "
"What is my FTP Login Username and Password?" => "Please contact us and we will email your information to you.",
"How do I name my photos so that they will be in the correct order when I send them?" =>
"Please name all your files so that they are in order on your computer. Place all your images in one folder with no subfolders. Upload all the pictures from
this folder to your event folder on our server. Do not create additional folders in the event folder, the pictures will not be identified.
Once your event is online, you will have a chance to organize you images.",
"What format should my Pictures be?" => "All picture files must be in JPEG format with the extension .jpg ",
"What is the FTP host/IP name/address?" => "The correct FTP address is ftp.momentshare.com. Please use this address when connecting through an ftp program.",
"How big should the pictures I upload be?"=> "To get the best results for viewing your pictures, they should be no wider then 550 pixels and no larger then 150kb.
We use and recommend using a batch image editor to convert your event the right size. ",
"What is the best FTP program to use? Where can I find a good FTP program?" =>
"We recommend the following free ftp programs: CoreFTP or SmartFTP or WS_FTP.
There are also plenty of other good FTP programs that you may like better. You can search at Downloads.com for other programs.

- A: An Event remains active for 90 days after activation. If you need to have an event remain active for longer, please contact us.
- Q: When I sort my pictures, what does Frontpage mean?
- A: The category Frontpage allows you to select certain pictures to be displayed on the first page when customers log in. This is for pictures which you think will have the most appeal for your event. We allow you to select as many frontpage pictures as you want, but recommend only selecting 20 at most.
- Q: How do I delete a photo, or replace it with a different photo?
- A: You can use the Do Not Show category, or set another category with the order 0, and set an image to this category. It will no be viewable by your customers. Or you can use the Upload option found in the admin controlpanel. By uploading a picture with the same name as a picture already uploaded, you will be replacing that image with the new image. If you use FTP to upload a new picture it will not be added to the event and a thumbnail will not be created.
